Unlike traditional compute-intensive avatar technologies, our browser-rendered approach is faster, lighter and dramatically more affordable to deploy, helping make human-like AI interfaces practical at scale.
Our Journey
Captivation AI was founded in 2023 by technology entrepreneur Gareth Hughes, bringing together a team across technology, AI, product, design and media.
We began by developing food discovery apps and video menus for restaurants, before adding conversational AI and speaking Avatars to create more engaging customer experiences.
When the avatar technology we needed proved too expensive and compute-heavy, we built our own.
That innovation changed the direction of Captivation. In 2026, we expanded beyond hospitality, opening our real-time Avatar technology to virtually any AI platform, chatbot or digital agent.
